Summary
R134a is considered by OEMs for replacing HCFCs into water chiller products. For unitary air conditioning systems, zeotropic blends are being developed to offer a good match with R22. They can be used in a near future for new installations without major equipment redesign and if needed, for retrofitting existing systems. Field experience shows that R404a is also an excellent R22 substitute for refrigeration and some air conditioning applications.
