Comparative energy assessment of certain CFC mixtures as R22 substitutes.

[In German. / En allemand.]

Summary

Measurements of the capacity of the test plant for CFC mixtures in Dresden were carried out with the zeotropic CFC mixtures R407C, R407A, R407B and R404A together with the azeotropic mixture R507. It is found that the figures of merit decreased of 20% compared to R22 for constant outer conditions (temperature glide of the secondary refrigerant/evaporator 5 K, constant refrigeration capacity). For R407C and R407A there is an important gap between these and the theoretic calculated values (Carnot process). The use of the internal heat exchange shows the energy advantages in particular for the mixtures containing a high percentage of R125 (R407B, R404A, R507). For low temperatures of the secondary refrigerant figures of merit of R22 are achieved. Apart from the use of internal heat exchangers it must be paid attention to obtain an important subcooling effect, in particular for CFC mixtures containing a high percentage of R125, making it possible to achieve energy improvements.
