GRAZ UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY HAS SCREENED 940 SUBSTANCES FOR THEIR SUITABILITY AS MEDIA FOR COMPRESSION HEAT PUMPS. BASED ON THIS STUDY, ETHYL CHLORIDE WAS SELECTED AS A POSSIBLE MEDIUM AND TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT USING A LABORATORY COMPRESSION CYCLE. ETHYL CHLORIDE IS IN FACT VERY SUITED TO BE A HEAT PUMP MEDIUM AND IS BETTER THAN R114 IN TERMS OF COP.
