Summary
FoodNet tracks the incidence of diarrheal disease associated with seven primary foodborne pathogens (i.e., in the USA Campylobacter, E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Shigella, Listeria, Vibrio, and Yersinia, were collected from two states, Oregon and Minnesota, and from selected countries in California, Georgia, and Connecticut. The population for the 1997 survey totaled more than 15 million persons. The number of laboratory confirmed diarrheal cases associated with the seven bacterial pathogens was 8,031 in 1997.
