Summary

The paper consists of two parts. Firstly, the fundamental studies on the basic components, and secondly as an example for the application of this basic research, a computer simulation on a cold thermal storage system has been performed to study the effects of such an operation mode on the system performance. Then, the state of the art of ice slurries, which is applied to development of ice storage systems for air conditioning uses in Japan, has been described. Five types of ice storage system were described.
