Type of article: Article, Case study

Summary

Natural refrigerants have neither a global warming potential nor an ozone depleting potential. Ammonia has an excellent COP. There are interesting industrial heat pump projects realised, using the natural refrigerant ammonia. In this article, a number of applications are described. It shows the advantage of significant energy and environmental savings achieved with ammonia as refrigerant in heat pumps, in comparison with central heating systems using natural gas.
