Summary

THE THERMODYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF A TWO-STAGE ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP, OPERATING WITH SODA-WATER AND AMMONIA-WATER BINARY SYSTEMS IS DISCUSSED. IT IS SHOWN THAT IMPROVEMENTS CAN BE OBTAINED REACHING 25% COMPARED TO A SINGLE STAGE PROCESS. HOWEVER, THE WORKING MEDIUM FOR THE HIGH TEMPERATURE STAGE HAS DEFECTS, LEADING TO LIMITATIONS IN THE SELECTION OF OPTIMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. THUS IT SEEMS NECESSARY TO SEARCH FOR OTHER WORKING MEDIA BETTER ADJUSTED TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURE STAGE.
