Hybrid absorption-compression systems to upgrade industrial waste heat.

Summary

The authors present two new types of hybrid absorption compression heat transformers/refrigeration systems to upgrade industrial waste heat. They develop an exergo-economic analysis of these systems based on the concepts of exergetic efficiency, temperature ratio (process/waste heat) and the cost of the produced heating/refrigeration effect. They utilize a function of technical economic value that characterizes the thermal and economic performance of the systems. The performances of these systems are compared for the following industrial operating conditions: waste heat temperatures of 80 to 100 deg C: process temperatures of 130 to 180 deg C (heat transformers) and 7 deg C (refrigeration systems). For each operating condition the authors identify the best performing system.
