ICE-CONCENTRATE SEPARATION BY CONTINUOUS PRESSING IN FREEZE-CONCENTRATION: TEST DETERMINATION OF PRESSING CONDITIONS.

SEPARATION GLACE-CONCENTRE PAR PRESSURAGE CONTINU EN CRYOCONCENTRATION : DETERMINATION EXPERIMENTALE DES CONDITIONS DE PRESSAGE.

Author(s) : VALENTE M.

Type of article: Article

Summary

IN THE FREEZE-CONCENTRATION PROCESS STUDIED, CONCENTRATE IS SEPARATED BY A CONTINUOUS PRESS OF THE EXPELLER TYPE. A TEST DEVICE FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF RADIAL PRESSURE WAS DEVELOPED, IN ORDER TO RECORD PRESSURE VARIATIONS, DURING THE TREATMENT OF MODEL 5 AND 15% SUCROSE SOLUTIONS, FROZEN TO 253 K (-20 DEG C). THE PRESSURE VARIATION IS CYCLIC, IN RELATION WITH SCREW ROTATION ; THE PRESSURE PROFILE IS PRESENTED AND COMMENTED UPON. THE EFFECT OF THE OUTLET SECTION AREA OF THE ICE CAKE AND OF THE COMPOSITION OF THE PRESSED MIXTURE ON MAXIMUM PRESSURE IS STUDIED.
