Summary
The steady-state morphology of ice structure was investigated experimentally in two channels with different curvature. Even for moderately curved channels interactions between acceleration and centrifugal forces lead to significant differences in the morphology of the ice layers as compared to a straight channel. Additionally, a theoretical model was developed in order to describe the interaction of the different forces and their strong influence on the structure of turbulence. Numerically calculated ice layers are compared with experimental findings and a generally good agreement was found.
