Summary

Heat-shrinkable (50 µm) low density polyethylene (LDPE) and stretch-cling (15 µm) linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) films were evaluated for individual wrapping of Nagpur mandarin fruits to extend their shelf life under refrigerated storage conditions (6-7 °C; 90-95% RH) during Mrig crop season 1997. Wrapping of fruits reduced water loss. Two pre-harvest sprays with carbendazim and post-harvest wash with chlorine followed by carbendazim treatment minimized decay. Colour development was not adversely affected. Respiration rate was low in film-wrapped fruits. Other information is given concerning chemical analysis and quality of fruits.
