DURING THE PAST 15 YEARS A NUMBER OF FACTORS RELATING TO THE COOLING AND TEMPERATURE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS OF FRESH STONE FRUITS GROWN UNDER CALIFORNIAN CLIMATIC CONDITIONS HAS BEEN EVALUATED. PRESENTED HERE IS A REVIEW OF THOSE EVALUATIONS AND AN ATTEMPT TO INTEGRATE THE RESULTS INTO AN OVERALL UNDERSTANDING OF TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR THESE FRUITS.
