Influence of protection walls on the economic functioning of cold rooms under tropical climates.

Influence des murs de protection sur le fonctionnement économique des chambres froides dans les climats tropicaux.

Summary

The influence of protection walls against solar radiation on the preservation conditions of products has been determined, through the study of the temperature evolution inside the cold rooms, with intermittent functioning (night/day) of cold a store specialized in the preservation of frozen fish. To reach this goal, the authors carried out, for the same period of the year, series of measurements then determined the storage life and energy saving, for the two types of rooms. The analysis of obtained data shows a smaller variation of the temperature of cold rooms and a preservation life about 4/5 months for the cold rooms with protection walls, versus 3 months in the rooms without protection walls. The global energy consumption is reduced up to 20-30% for the whole refrigerating equipment of cold rooms.
