Summary

THE INFLUENCE OF AN INTERMEDIATE PRESSING PROCESS ON THE SUPERCONDUCTING PROPERTIES OF SILVER SHEATHED BISMUTH-LEAD-STRONTIUM-CALCIUM-COPPER-OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTING TAPES WAS INVESTIGATED. THE CRITICAL-CURRENT DENSITY WAS IMPROVED BY THE EFFECT OF A UNIAXIAL PRESSING AND SINTERING AFTER THE INITIAL SINTERING. THE MAXIMUM TRANSPORT CRITICAL-CURRENT DENSITY AT 77 K UNDER A ZERO MAGNETIC FIELD WAS INDICATED TO BE 29.000 A/CM2, AND AT 4.2 K UNDER ZERO MAGNETIC FIELD WAS INDICATED TO BE 150.000 A/CM2. THE CRITICAL-CURRENT DENSITY AT 4.2 K AND 12 T WAS SHOWN TO BE 50.000 A/CM2 WHEN THE MAGNETIC FIELD WAS APPLIED PARALLEL TO THE WIDTH OF THE TAPE, AND 30.000 A/CM2 UNDER THE CONDITION OF A PERPENDICULAR APPLIED MAGNETIC FIELD.
