Investigation of interface oscillations and heat transfer mechanism at film boiling on a horizontal tube.

Summary

Interface oscillations and mechanism of heat transfer under conditions of film boiling of water on a horizontal cylinder are investigated using laser and acoustic diagnostics. Data on heat transfer and vapour film thickness are obtained and spectra of vapour film oscillations and pressure in the liquid are recorded. A physical model of local heat transfer is suggested. It is based on the quasistatic and dynamic balance of interface surface. Correlations for the local parameters: heat flux, vapour-film thickness and wave amplitude have been obtained both for saturated and subcooled liquid. The obtained equations are compared with the experimental data for a horizontal cylinder.
