Summary

FOUR PEA VARIETIES, IN PODS OR SHELLED, WERE STORED AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES. THE RESULTS SHOW THE DECREASE IN LOSSES WHEN PEAS ARE STORED BETWEEN 277 AND 279 K (4 AND 6 DEGC). THE FRESH PEAS CAN BE MARKETED OVER 3 TO 4 DAYS. PEAS IN PODS HAVE A BETTER STORAGE SUITABILITY THAN SHELLED PEAS. AT THE AMBIENT, PEAS DETERIORATE VERY QUICKLY AND LOSSES ARE SIGNIFICANT AFTER 24 HRS, ESPECIALLY FOR SHELLED PEAS.
