Liquid hydrogen level sensors based on MgB2.
Author(s) : HABERSTROH C., DEHN G., KIRSTEN K.
Summary
Recently, for the first time, a superconductive liquid level sensor for liquid hydrogen could be demonstrated. It is based on MgB2, which has a critical temperature in the appropriate region. Measurements with prototype sensors are quite encouraging: a resolution better than 1 mm, high linearity, good reproducibility and a good time resolution are obtained. Different probe layouts and test results from near-service conditions are presented.
