LIQUID-REFRIGERANT HEAT EXCHANGERS DESIGNED FOR LAMINAR FLOW.

Author(s) : GRANRYD E.

Summary

THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES A NEW HEAT EXCHANGER TYPE BETWEEN LIQUID AND REFRIGERANT. IT IS MADE UP OF MODULES AND USED AS AN EVAPORATOR AND A CONDENSER. THE FLOW ON THE LIQUID SIDE IS LAMINAR BETWEEN SHORT ROWS WITH SMALL HYDRAULIC DIAMETER. ON THE REFRIGERANT SIDE, THE FLOW OCCURS THROUGH RECTANGULAR TUBES. A VERY COMPACT EVAPORATOR OR CONDENSER IS OBTAINED, WITH GOOD HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS AND MINIMUM PRESSURE DROP ON THE LIQUID SIDE.
