Summary
The literature was surveyed to determine the current recommended procedures for the use of evaporators in refrigerated warehouses. Factors studied included evaporator design, effect of frost accumulation, defrost performance, fan effects, costs, air distribution, and unit sizing. The results of the survey indicate that the highest priorities for future research seem to be in the areas of frost effects, defrosting, and air distribution.
