THE OPTIMUM AND MINIMUM RATES OF COOLING AND EQUILIBRATION OF GAS ATMOSPHERES ARE GIVEN FOR GRANNY SMITH, AND THE GAS MIXTURES FOR GOLDEN DELICIOUS, STARKING AND PACKHAMS TRIUMPH ARE QUOTED AS 2% O2, 2% CO2. FOR GRANNY SMITH 2% O2 AND 0% CO2. STORAGE LIFE IS 9-10 MONTHS AND THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS 14 DAY SAMPLING TOWARDS THE END OF STORAGE TO ASSESS SUSCEPTIBILITY TO SCALD AND BITTER PIT. G.R.S.
