LOOKING INTO NEW REFRIGERANTS WITH A LOW OZONE DEPLETING POTENTIAL, THE LUBRICATION OF THE COMPRESSOR AND THE OIL CIRCULATION IN THE INSTALLATION NEED CAREFUL CONSIDERATION. NEW OILS ARE NOW REQUIRED AND THE COMPRESSOR AND OTHER COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REDESIGNED. THE PROBLEMS IN APPLYING R134A AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR R12 ARE DISCUSSED.
