Market experience with hydrocarbons in Sweden.

Author(s) : SVENSSON H.

Summary

Since the early eighties Sweden has developed an important market for small heat pumps in newly built one-family houses. Regulations prescribed in the early eighties better insulated houses in order to reduce the energy consumption. The houses were also built more airtight which required well-defined ventilation in order to achieve good indoor air quality. It became obvious that there was a need for heat recovery from the warm outgoing air. A good way to do that was by means of a heat pump. So the exhaust air heat pump was born and within a short time it gained an important market share in newly built one-family houses.
