Date: 1900.01.01

Summary

This publication compiles the 10 papers presented at this workshop, held in Paris, France, on November 9, 1999, and organised under the auspices of the European Commission' DG Energy and Transport THERMIE-B Programme "Concerted action for the promotion of heat pumps in Europe" of the European Commission. Discussions covered the hurdles and stimuli for the market introduction of residential and small commercial heat pumps using natural working fluids, particularly hydrocarbons and ammonia. The papers cover EU policy towards implementing the Kyoto and Montreal Protocols, liability aspects in Europe, new standards under development, and the views of hydrocarbon or ammonia equipment manufacturers as well as safety aspects for hydrocarbons, ammonia and CO2. Some of the articles will be abstracted in a future issue of the IIR Bulletin.
