MASS DIFFUSION IN THE PROCESS OF AMMONIA VAPOUR ABSORPTION IN AMMONIA-WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE TERNARY SYSTEM.

Author(s) : KASHIWAGI T., OKAJIMA J.

Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDIED MATTER DIFFUSION IN A VAPOUR ABSORPTION PROCESS OF AMMONIA IN PURE WATER AND IN A WATER SOLUTION OF 60% LITHIUM BROMIDE. THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THEORETICAL DATA. MATTER DIFFUSIVITY WAS DETERMINED. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE MATTER DIFFUSIVITY OF THE TERNARY MIXTURE CONSIDERABLY DECREASES AS COMPARED TO THAT OF THE BINARY MIXTURE. IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE INCREASE IN THE MATTER TRANSFER OBTAINED BY THE MARANGONI EFFECT IS ESSENTIAL FOR IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF A TERNARY MIXTURE ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP.
