MEASUREMENT OF THE AIR CIRCULATION CHARACTERISTICS OF REFRIGERATED FREIGHT CONTAINERS.

Author(s) : SHARP A. K., IRVING A. R.

Summary

REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS NOW COMING INTO SERVICE ARE 50% LARGER THAN THOSE OF 10 YEARS AGO. A NEW APPARATUS HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO MEASURE CIRCULATION RATES ACCURATELY IN SUCH CONTAINERS. THE AIR STREAM IS PASSED THROUGH A FAN-COMPENSATED FLOW METER, SIMILAR IN PRINCIPLE TO A PREVIOUS APPARATUS. THE NEW APPARATUS IS DEMOUNTABLE FOR EASY TRANSPORT, AND ADAPTS TO SUIT THE INTERNAL WIDTH AND HEIGHT OF EACH CONTAINER OR REFRIGERATED ROAD TRUCKS.
