MEASUREMENTS ON EVACUATED INSULANTS WITH EXTERNAL LOAD.

Author(s) : BRENDENG E.

Summary

FOR A LNG-CARRIER, BOIL-OFF CAN BE REDUCED TO ZERO BY ACCUMULATION AS PRESSURE RISES IN THE TANKS. THE TRANSPORT CAPACITY OF A 125,000 M3 LNG-CARRIER INCREASES BY 90,000 M3/YEAR. A THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF 0.005 W/MILLIK CAN BE REACHED ONLY WITH EVACUATED INSULATION WHICH SHOULD BE ABLE TO BEAR THE FULL ATMOSPHERIC LOAD. AN APPARATUS FOR TESTING EVACUATED INSULATION WAS BUILT.
