Summary

Analyzing the heat transfer processes of automobile air-conditioner evaporators with and without a hydrophilic film, it was recognized that a hydrophilic film affects the heat transfer performance of automobile air-conditioner evaporators on the following three aspects: effective heat transfer area, heat transfer coefficient and temperature difference. Effective heat transfer area coefficient, a new parameter, was introduced and measured experimentally. A mathematical model was established to simulate the heat transfer processes of both the evaporator plating with a hydrophilic film and the one without a hydrophilic film, which was verified by experiments. The results reveal that the heat transfer coefficient decreases, but the effective heat transfer area and temperature difference increase, so the total heat transferred increases by 5%.
