Summary

Computational software accuracy poses quite a problem in the HVAC sector. The automotive industry uses batches of over 1000 pieces quite often. One piece is then directly measured in an aerodynamic tunnel. The potential customer can therefore easily find an adequate exchanger that will suit his application. However, a number of pieces in a batch is lower in HVAC sector than in the automotive industry, and aerodynamic tunnel testing would be too costly for each piece as a result. The solution therefore lies in using a computing software with sufficient accuracy. This paper presents a model method that will be applicable for different types of cross flow heat exchangers. The evaluation procedure is based on the knowledge of air side characteristic that is measured on a real sample of a typical configuration. The other heat exchangers are calculated using a sophisticated similarity model. The accuracy of a heat rate outcome is very interesting, with its standard deviation of about 4% of 95% of measurments.
