Summary

The brief communication reports the results of preliminary studies performed to evaluate the feasibility of using NMR imaging to monitor the freezing of tissue during cryosurgery. Two tissues were studied, rabbit brain and dog prostate. NMR imaging of these tissues provided a clear distinction between frozen and unfrozen tissue and an accurate assessment of the extent of freezing in real time.
