Summary
The author reviews dispositions implemented in order to achieve cold-chain control in European countries and discusses new approaches. For certain links in the cold chain, regulatory measures comprising obligations are more common than those of a voluntary nature (involving commitments to achieve certain results). This is the case in refrigerated transport. The opposite is true for refrigerated display cabinets: in this domain, voluntary schemes designed to achieve control of the cold chain are a dominant feature.
