NEW COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP MEDIA AS REPLACEMENTS FOR CFCS.

Author(s) : NARODOSLAWSKY M., MOSER F.

Summary

BASED ON A SYSTEMATIC METHOD OF LOOKING FOR OPTIMAL WORKING MEDIA FOR COMPRESSION HEAT PUMPS, A DATABASE OF 940 SUBSTANCES WAS SCREENED. OUT OF THIS NUMBER, 3 SUBSTANCES EMERGED: ETHYL CHLORIDE, ETHYL BROMIDE AND PROPYL CHLORIDE. THEY COMPARE FAVOURABLY WITH MOST CFC WORKING FLUIDS INTERMS OF THE COP, THE VOLUMETRIC HEAT STORAGE, AND THE PRESSURE RATIO. THEY DO NOT EXHIBIT STRONG TOXICITY AND SEEM TO BE ECOLOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE. THE APPLICABILITY OF THESE SUBSTANCES WAS TESTED WITH A SIMULATION PROGRAMME FOR 3 CASES:NAMELY, WITH THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HEAT SOURCE AT 293 K (20 DEG C) AND A BOOST OF 50 K, AND WITH THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HEAT SOURCE AT 333 AND 363 K (60 AND 90 DEG C) AND A BOOST OF 60 K.
