Summary

The authors have produced a formula for calculating the thermal conductivity of gases as a function of temperature. The three constants involved are regression coefficients specific to each compound. These have been established for 309 gases in the C1 to C4 range including many hydrocarbons, oxygenates, halogenates, nitrogenates, sulphur compounds and silicon compounds. For easy reference they have published tables of the constants, also the resulting thermal conductivities for some of these gases at 25 deg C. As very little corroborative data is available for highly polar and high molecular weight compounds or organic compounds at high temperatures, some of the results must be regarded as approximate only.
