Numerical study on the modelling of evaporator of a multi-deck refrigerated display cabinet.

Summary

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of different evaporator boundary conditions on the performance of refrigerated display cabinets. To find the optimization design of an air curtain of an open refrigerated display cabinet (RDC), a numerical model is needed for predicting feasible performance of RDCs. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are conducted in this study to investigate the influence of different evaporator boundary conditions on the performance of the air curtain, and compare with the experimental data. The result shows the adoption of an evaporator model with low-temperature bundles of copper tubes can improve the distributions of predicted temperature in the RDC while the lower air curtain velocity is set.
