Summary

Recently, the rise of fresh e-commerce makes the total growth of cold storage obvious, exploring dedicated refrigeration system of environmental protection refrigerant has attracted industry attention. This study proposed a two-stage compression CO2 refrigeration system with an external intercooler and flash tank and developed a numerical model and prototype. In addition, the numerical models are also established for traditional two-stage compression using external cooling and flash tank cooling. After the accuracy of the model is verified by experiments, the effects of discharge pressure on COP of the three systems are compared. Under the specific condition, the optimal COP of the proposed system is 9.0% and 6.5% higher than that of the external cooling and flash tank cooling, respectively, and the optimal discharge pressure is reduced by 0.4 MPa and 1.5 MPa. Finally, the effects of cooling water and evaporator inlet air temperature on the optimal discharge pressure and COP are studied.
