ON SECOND LAW ANALYSIS OF REFRIGERATION/HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE.

Author(s) : ZILBERBERG Y. M.

Summary

THIS PAPER EXAMINES THE IMPACT OF TIME-DEPENDENT VARIATIONS OF HEAT-SUPPLY AND REJECTION TEMPERATURES ON THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF REFRIGERATION/HEAT PUMP THERMODYNAMIC CYCLES. THE TEMPERATURE VARIATIONS BRING ABOUT TRANSIENT PROCESSES IN THE CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR OF THE SYSTEM THEREBY INTRODUCING DYNAMIC IRREVERSIBILITIES INTO THE CYCLES. THOSE IRREVERSIBILITIES CAN BE ACCOUNTED FOR BY MEANS OF MATHEMATICAL DESCRIPTIONS OF CONDENSER AND EVAPORATOR DYNAMICS INCORPORATED INTO THE THERMODYNAMIC MODELS. THE VARIABLE IRREVERSIBLE EXERGY DESTRUCTION IS INTEGRATED OVER AVERAGE DURATIONS OF THE TRANSIENT RESPONSES.
