ON THE CALCIUM CHLORIDE BRINE-FREEZING SYSTEM ABOARD TUNA FISHING BOATS IN JAPAN.

Author(s) : OGAWA Y.

Summary

MOST TUNA FISHING BOATS OF JAPAN USE FREEZING IN AIR AT 223 TO 213 K (-50 TO -60 DEG C). INVESTIGATING A SYSTEM THAT WOULD REPLACE THIS PROCESS AND CONSUME LESS ENERGY, THE AUTHOR PROPOSES IMMERSION IN A CALCIUM CHLORIDE SOLUTION. IN ADDITION, THE IMMERSION SYSTEM REQUIRES NOT SO LOW A TEMPERATURE, HENCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION CAN BE REDUCED TO ABOUT 50%.
