On the formation of pinch points in recuperative heat exchangers used in mixture Joule-Thomson refrigerators.
Author(s) : GONG M. Q., WU J. F., LUO E. C.
Summary
The influence of mixture composition on formation of pinch points in the recuperative heat exchanger used in mixture Joule-Thomson refrigerators is studied. The occurrence of pinch points for zeotropic multicomponent mixtures is due to the non-linear variation of enthalpy in two-phase zone in the counter current heat exchanger. The effect of the mixture composition on the occurrence of pinch points is analyzed, which is illustrated with several examples. The results will be helpful in the future design of the heat exchanger as well as the optimization of the mixtures.
