Overview of advanced thermally activated and hybrid heat pump systems.

Author(s) : KASHIWAGI T.

Summary

Thermally activated heat pump systems are innovative contemporary technologies from the viewpoint of potential energy utilization. Two issues should be considered: high efficient heat pump system based on advanced cycles achieving maximum COP, and advanced adsorption cycles making use of low temperature waste heat. Some advanced absorption cycles are characterized and discussed in terms of COP. Through poor in COP, advanced adsorption cycles effectively exploit low temperature waste heat. A combination of hybrid cycles and advanced absorption cycles is under consideration in Japan and is introduced here.
