Performance evaluation of an air-conditioning system using non-azeotropic refrigeration mixtures (NARMs) by an equation of state.

Author(s) : JIN X., XU D., ZHOU X.

Summary

The paper analyses an air-conditioning system using NARMs of R22 and R142. The effect of pressure drop and heat transfer is considered. The COP of the system using this R22 and R142 mixture is about 20% higher than using pure R22 when the heat transfer area is equal, but refrigerating capacity falls by about 15%. When the heat transfer area is increased, the same refrigerating capacity is obtained with lower energy needs.
