PERFORMANCE OF ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANTS FORCFC12 IN STATIONARY REFRIGERATION APPLICATIONS.

Author(s) : LAWSON C. C.

Summary

R134A AND A TERNARY BLEND OF R22/R152A/R124 ARE THE LEADING ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANT CANDIDATES TO REPLACE R12 IN STATIONARY REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT. EXTENSIVE SYSTEM AND COMPONENT TESTING IS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE CHANGES NEEDED TO USE THE ALTERNATIVES IN REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT. THIS PRESENTATION SUMMARIZES PERFORMANCE AND MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY TEST RESULTS WITH THESE ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANTS IN STATIONARY REFRIGERATION EQUIPMENT. RETROFIT REQUIREMENTS FOR USE OF THE ALTERNATIVES IN EXISTING R12 EQUIPMENT, AND OPTIMIZATION CONSIDERATIONS FOR MAXIMIZING PERFORMANCE OF THE ALTERNATIVES IN NEW EQUIPMENT ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
