Summary

The author examines the practical aspects of the phase out of R12, R22 and R502 by the new refrigerants R134a and different mixtures (Isceon 69L, SUVA HP80, FORANE FX10). The preliminary phasing out of all types of mineral oil in the circuit is emphasized. Dimensioning of tubes, material used for the valves, calibration of pressure gauges are presented. The need of leakage detection is emphasized, because of the high costs of the new refrigerants. The paper does not include quantitative considerations, but it proposes many suggestions obtained from experience obtained in a supermarket in the United Kingdom.
