POTENTIALITIES OF THE TWO-FLUID EJECTOR-DRIVEN VAPOUR COMPRESSION CYCLE.

Author(s) : FITT P. W., VAHDATI M.

Summary

THE AUTHORS ANALYZE THE PERFORMANCES OF A RANKINE/RANKINE HEAT PUMP, WHICH IS DRIVEN BY AN EJECTOR AND WHICH USES TWO IMMISCIBLE FLUIDS ; THEY COMPARE THEM TO THE PERFORMANCES OF AN EQUIVALENT MECHANICAL SYSTEM. THEY OBSERVE THAT THE EJECTOR OPERATES MORE EFFICIENTLY IF A FLUID OF A HIGH MOLECULAR MASS IS USED AS THE DRIVING FLUID ENTRAINING ANOTHER FLUID OF A LESSER MOLECULAR MASS. THEY SHOW THAT THIS ADVANTAGE IS PARTLY OFFSET BY THE DECREASE IN THE THERMAL EFFICIENCY OF BOTH PARTS OF THE CYCLE, DUE TO THE HIGHER PRESSURE OF THE COMMON CONDENSER. VALUES OF TYPICAL PERFORMANCES ARE PRESENTED.
