Precooling of cylindrically shaped grapes: experimental and theoretical temperature distributions.

Author(s) : DINCER I.

Summary

The paper concerns an experimental and theoretical investigation of transient heat transfer from a cylindrical shaped fruit to air flows at 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2 meters per second. A new approach was used in analyzing the transient heat transfer. The effects of two major parameters such as convection and radiation heat transfer coefficients on the temperature distribution were analyzed. Very good agreement was found in the comparisons between the measured and computed temperature distributions. The results indicate that the present approach is an effective tool for analysis of this type of heat transfer problems.
