Predicting film permeability needs for modified-atmosphere packaging of lightly processed fruits and vegetables.
Author(s) : CAMERON A. C., CHOWDARY-TALASILA P., JOLES D. W.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The authors describe how to identify target levels, the development of predictive models, how to model oxygen uptake, gas permeation, steady state (oxygen), CO2 pkg, relative humidity pkg, how to measure respiration, film permeability, skin permeability, lower oxygen limits, how to estimate permeability requirements and gas levels in modified atmosphere (MA) packages. They also describe temperature effects on gas concentrations in MA packages, the film requirements for MA packaging, and sense-and-respond packages.
