Present European environmental-friendly CFC and HCFC substitutes for refrigeration and air conditioning applications.

Summary
Following European regulations, CFC production has stopped in 01/01/1995. Regarding HCFCs, the substitution has already started since regulations applied in Europe where these products are the most severe in the world for new equipments. Therefore, this article describes the 1999 situation in Europe for the replacement of CFCs and HCFC by new long-term standard HFC refrigerants, such as R404A, R507, R134a and R407C in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
