Summary

IT WAS OBSERVED THAT FOR EACH GRAPE VARIETY THERE IS AN OPTIMUM GAS COMPOSITION IN WHICH STORAGE LIVES ARE 2-3 MONTH LONGER THAN IN AIR. LOSSES ARE LOWER AND THE ORGANOLEPTIC PROPERTIES OF GRAPES ARE BETTER PRESERVED. AGADAI AND DOLTCHATI VARIETIES STORE BEST IN A GAS ATMOSPHERE MADE UP OF 3% CO2 AND 5% O2 AND DERBENTSKI MUSCAT IN AN ATMOSPHERE 5% CO2 AND 5% O2. THE STORAGE ATMOSPHERE SHOULD BE 95-98% RH IN ORDER TO PREVENT WITHERING. (Bull. OIV, FR., 60, N 673-674, 1987/03-04, 401, 19429.
