Propane: a realistic alternative.
Propane : une alternative réaliste.

Summary
Considering only the thermodynamic properties of propane (R290) the efficiency is lower than for R22. In practice, however, R290 is advantageous: higher COPs than for R22 and compressor discharge temperatures significantly lower, enough to enable large cycle temperature differences to be obtained with single-stage systems. The only problem of R290 is the combustibility. In practice, however, the hazard of propane equipment is relatively low.
