IIR document

Propane, cyclopropane and isobutane in small refrigeration systems.

Summary

The paper deals with the results of tests carried out on a household freezer in which the original R12 refrigerant was replaced with the R290-R600a (50-50) and RC270-R600a (70-30) refrigerant mixtures. In as far as the tests are representative of the whole range of domestic refrigeration, the results of this experimental work show that the new RC270-R600a (70-30) mixture may be added to the list of natural drop-in substitutes for R12.
