Summary

Volume 1 is given in French and Spanish. It reviews the scientific aspects of the ozone-layer depletion and the provisions of the Montreal Protocol. The sectors using CFCs are reviewed: domestic, commercial and industrial refrigeration, refrigerated transport and cold storage, air conditioning and heat pumps. A chapter concerns CFC recycling. Volume 2 is given in English, French and Spanish. The sectors using CFCs are described: electronics, precision cleaning, general metal cleaning, dry cleaning, adhesives, coatings and aerosols. Substitution technologies are proposed. Volumes 4 and 5 are given in English only. Volume 4 concerns the foam industry and the utilization of CFCs as blowing agents. Volume 5 concerns the utilization of CFCs as propellants and sterilants, as well as less important utilizations.
