REAL GAS CRITICAL FLOW FACTORS FOR R12, R22, AND R502.

Author(s) : SCHUMANN S. P.

Summary

THE PAPER WAS WRITTEN TO INTRODUCE THE CONCEPT OF CRITICAL FLOW DEVICES. IDEAL GAS RELATIONSHIPS GIVE ACCURATE RESULTS FOR MANY GASES ; HOWEVER, OTHER GASES REQUIRE INFORMATION ON COMPRESSIBILITY AND SPECIFIC HEAT VARIATION TO PRODUCE ACCURATE RESULTS. PREVIOUSLY TABULATED VALUES OF CRITICAL FLOW FACTORS FOR MANY COMMON AND INDUSTRIAL GASES DO NOT INCLUDE CFC REFRIGERANTS. USING A MARTIN-HOU TYPE OF EQUATION OF STATE AND PUBLISHED SPECIFIC HEAT INFORMATION, THE PAPER TABULATES THE CRITICAL FLOW FACTORS FOR 3 COMMON COMMERCIAL REFRIGERANTS: DICHLORODIFLUOROMETHANE (R12), CHLORODIFLUOROMETHANE (R22), AND THE AZEOTROPIC MIXTURE OF R22 AND CHLOROPENTAFLUOROETHANE (R115), KNOWN AS R502.
